Happy Independence Day!

This weekend is the 4th of July, filled with hotdogs, sunshine and fireworks. But in addition to family fun and 3 day weekends, the 4th of July means much more. The 4th of July, is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

A salute of one gun for each state in the United States, called a “salute to the union,” is fired on Independence Day at noon by any capable military base. Firework shows are held in many states, and many fireworks are sold for personal use or as an alternative to a public show. Family and friends celebrate wearing red, white and blue to represent the American flag. Celebration is seen in many forms and everywhere.

Have a great holiday weekend!
